Outdoor Cultivation Vs Indoor

Growing outdoors is the most natural and econimical method of growing a cannibis crop. All the hype of indoor growing will go up in smoke after you harvest a crop that has been soaking n the sumemr sun for 3 months. The major drawback of outdoor growing is the risk. Nosy neighbors and do-good strangers may delight in calling Crime Stoppers and turning your hard work into a 41000 reward. So never grow on your own property, never tell anyone where your secret growing location is, and make sure nobody sees you when you visit your plants.

Germinating Seeds

Obviously you can't grow the weed unless you have the seed. Often you will find seeds in the weed you are smokingm and you should set these aside. You can also mail order seeds from catalogues available at any local hemp shop. To germinate the seeds, place them on a plate between two moist kitchen towels and put them in a dark spot, like a cupboard. After a few days, rhe root and the shoot will emerge and the seedlings should be placed into small pots. Plant the seed with the root facing down and with the shoot at, or justabove the surface. Later you cant ransplant these seedlings into larger pots for an indoor set-up or straight into the ground if you are growing outdoors. At this point, the plants will grow well in front of a well-lit window (make sure they are not very visible) or under a fluroescent light.

Soil

Weed will grow just about anywhere and in all types of soil. If you are growing outdoors, you can add some store-bought or natural fertilizers to enrich a small area. Do not grow in areas that are likely to flood often. If you are growing indoors, select a soil that is rich in nutrients. If you choose a heavy soil, you may want to loosen it up a bit with some sand. Your local gardening shop will have all the soil and fertilizers you need. Rememebr it's always best to use organic soil and natural fertilizers such as blood meal and peat moss.

Once your seedlings reach one to two inches high, they are ready to be transplanted into larger pots or to the great outdoors.

Light

If you grow outdoors then you won't have to worry about this. all you have to do is make sure that your plants are in a spot that gets a lot of light. Unfortunately, laws against cultivation prevent many aspiring gardeners from growing outdoors and force them to set up mroe secretive gardens in basements and closets. If you grow indoors, the most important thing you will need is a good light. The best available light is a high-pressure sodium builb available at any hydroponics store. Shop around, because you may be able to find a light secnd-hand. For a small set-up, a 400 watt ight is best. The light will use as much power as a space heater or small refridgerator and therefore will not create a noticeable change on your hydro bill.

At first you will want to have the light on for approx. 18 hours each day. after about 3 weeks or a month, you can shorten the light cycle to 12 hours a day. Cannibis will not flower (produce buds) if it does not get an uninterrupted dark cycle of approx. 12 hours. Therefore, do not turn on your light during the dark cycle and resist impulses to check up on the plants when the light is off.

The Indoor Set Up

A 400 watt bulb provides enough light for a 1m by 1m garden, Try fitting 16 large pots into this area and transplant 3 seedlings into each pot. Surround the area with 4 sheets of mylar or some other reflective material. Make sure there is a constant movement if air through your garden, A small fan on low power will do the job. Connect your light to an electrical timer and set the light cyce at 18 hours at first and 12 hours later on.

Males and Females

Cannibis plants are either male or female. High quality bud is only produced on unfertilized female lants. Therefore, as soon as you can tell which plants are male, you want to get rid of them. Male plants oroduce small, scattered flowers with 5 parts, each flower releasing a lot of yellow pollen grains. Female plants produce flowers each with two white hairs and tightly arranged into buds.
